The park is located in the northwest region of Uganda covering an area of approximately 3,893 square kilometres. Its one of the country’s most popular and diverse national parks named after Murchison falls, a stunning waterfall on the Victoria Nile River. The park is part of the larger Murchison falls conservation area, and it’s known for its rich wildlife, Scenic landscapes, and diverse ecosystems
The key attractions of the park are;
- Murchison falls: The park’s name- sake, Murchison falls is a must see. Here, the Nile River squeezes through a narrow George, creating a powerful waterfall that cascades 43 meters (141 feet) into the pool below. Visitors can view the falls from the top, accessible by a short hike, or take boat trips to experience their majesty from the base.
- Game Drives in the Buligi Game Area: The Buligi Game Area is situated between the Victoria Nile and Lake Albert is renowned for its diverse wildlife. The open savanna, riverine vegetation, and acacia woodlands provide excellent opportunities to spot elephants, lions, leopards, buffaloes, and various antelope species
- Boat cruises on the Nile: Boat cruises along the Nile River offer unique perspectives of the park’s wildlife. These trips provide opportunities to observe Hippos, crocodiles, and a variety of bird species, including the rare shoebill stork.
